My research focuses in the advancement of solutions for real-time support, collaboration and training via immersive technologies; embedding knowledge of computational intelligence, augmented/virtual/mixed reality and intelligent environments.
I hold a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Essex (UK) (from where I also completed a MSc in Advanced Web Engineering), and a BEng in Information Technology at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Mexico). I have several years of professional experience in financial institutions, retail and telecommunications companies, working in close collaboration with international multidisciplinary teams.
I am board member of the Immersive Learning Research Network, board member of the Creative Science Foundation, associate editor of EAI Endorsed Transactions on e-Learning, and professional member of IEEE, ACM, BCS and ALT. Additionally, I work actively in several conferences, workshops, and journals.
My research interests lie in the areas of mixed, augmented and virtual reality (MR/AR/VR), artificial intelligence (AI), ambient intelligence (AmI), internet-of-things (IoT), cyber-physical systems (CPS), intelligent environments, pervasive computing, computer-supported collaborative work (CSCW), technology-enhanced learning (TEL), and human-computer interaction (HCI).
